Google launches new search, shopping and maps features (4 minute read)

Google has announced new search features for Search, Lens, Shopping, and Maps. Multisearch allows users to search using both images and text, for example, it can be used to find restaurants that serve specific meals within an area using a photo of a dish. Google Lens will soon be able to translate text on more complex backgrounds. Google Shopping now has AR shoes and new shopping models for AR beauty. Google Maps can now use AR to overlay information about nearby venues and real-time events.
Musk Softens Remote-Work Mandate to Retain Twitter Staffers (2 minute read)

Many Twitter employees are opting to leave the company due to Elon Musk's ultimatum for them to either commit to the company's new hardcore work environment or leave. Musk sent an email on Thursday saying that employees wanting to work remotely only needed a commitment from managers to ensure that they are making excellent contributions. Managers who lie about employee performance will be exited from the company. In-person meetings are still required at least once per month.

Waymo has previewed its autonomous electric vehicle. The vehicle has no steering wheel, with just a screen in the center of the front side of the vehicle that displays self-driving status, progress maps, and music controls. There are additional screens for passengers and ample cargo space. The front seats face the road to aid with awareness and prevent car sickness. Niantic has unveiled its latest tech demo showing off its idea of the future of augmented reality gaming.
